Do a Battle Road! A Battle Road tournament is being held in Lusby. More info here.
The Battle Road series is designed to provide players with small, entry-level events on a local scale. These tournaments give players another opportunity to work on their premier ratings, potentially earning an invite and trip to Worlds.
-
Our webmaster has found some info regarding the next set. The name of the sixth Diamond & Pearl set is "Legends Awakened". The following things are supposed to be in the next set:
-More Pok émon LV X than any other set
-Technical Machines
- Fossil Cards
-Alternate HoloFoil Cards
That's about all we were able to get. The release date is August 20th, so it looks like the Modified format for the 2008 World Championship is already known: Holon Phantoms through Majestic Dawn. A nice chart with all the set symbols from the Modified format can be found here.

Big Prizes at Aardvark Gym! A Modified-Constructed tournament is held at Aardvark Videos, Comics, and Games, every Sunday at 4:00 (Entry Fee $4). On May 11,
they will be doing the same as usual, but there is a special twist on it! They are changing up the prizes.
Every round, the winner of every match wins a Pokémon TCG booster.
There will most likely be doing five rounds. The boosters will be whatever they have the most of (most likely GE). The overall 1st place winner will still get a tournament winner pin as usual. This is something special they are doing on May 11th only! Do not miss it. Hope to see you there!

The expected date for the recording of the next episode of The SoMD Pokémon TCG Podcast is May 18. I really had a lot of fun making this thing and I know we already have fans, so there's no reason to stop. More episodes are coming soon. It will be a lot easier to continue if I can get some sponsors.

Have you heard about the new Infernape? The one from Majestic Dawn, the next Pokémon TCG set? No? Well, here is a scan of the new card:

- The SoMD Pokémon TCG Podcast has been temporarily cancelled. I know you really like it, and so do I. I will continue. In the mean time, you can still vote for us on Podcast Alley.
In accordance with current internet trends, I have removed the splash page for this website. If you still want to see it, here you go.
-
I have a plan for organizing the content on this website a little better, which I will be implementing in the next few days. If all goes according as planned, I will be able to do this without actually relocating any files. However, I apologize in advance, if anything happens to go missing in the next few days.
-
I recently came across an up and coming TCG which is pretty darn fun, and may actually be a threat to the popularity of Pokémon TCG. A video demonstration of this new game can be found here.
Vertical web banners for the SoMD Pokémon TCG Page are available!
-
The Lusby PTO will be staff at the Regional Championship in Statesville, NC and would like you to be there too. Check it out!
-
For those of you who cannot access the file with the SoMD Pokémon TCG Podcast, I would like to point you to our page on Podcast Alley. I am still working on getting this issue resolved.

If you do not have flash on your computer, you probably won't be able to see the Pokémon mp3 player if you click on the link on the left side of the page. Go here to download flash.
The details for the Prerelease of the fifth Diamond and Pearl set, Majestic Dawn, are finally here!

Regional Championships are all being held on the same day (April 12). There will be one in Rockville. Click here to see more info.

If you look at the left column on this website, you can see a link that says " Pokémon mp3 player". It brings up a new window and it plays one of 13 Pokemon songs (you get to choose which one you hear by clicking on the numbers when the music player loads). This should give you something to listen to when looking through the content on our website (especially that wiki!). Have fun!

Big TFG news! Pokémon Organized Play has given the thumbs up to give league points for Pokémon Trading Figure Game matches at Pokémon TCG Leagues. The announcment can be found here.
-
The podcast archive has been changed. There were some encoding issues, but now everything looks just fine. It should work in most browsers except FireFox and K-Meleon (I am still working on it). In Opera, Netscape, Safari, and Explorer, it does work.
Just in case anyone is wondering, here is my to-do list for the website:
-Continue working on Pokemon mp3 player
-Change the layout of the site, as well as organize the pages better
-Fix all technical issues with the podcast
-Look at anything I may have overlooked when building this site and try to make it smaller, in terms of file size
-Possible features:
SoMD Pokemon fan art
SoMD Pokemon forum

I was late publishing episode 6 of the podcast. It is up now. I heard that there are some problems with the podcast in FireFox. I will be looking at those shortly. You can download the latest episode directly as an mp3 here. We were #1 in the Games and Hobbies category for February. It is a new month, and the Podcast Alley ratings have been reset. You can vote for us here.

The third episode of the podcast is up. As I promised, I would start archiving the episodes. They are archived in a format compatbile with iTunes, but you can just download the individual MP3s if you want to. We now have a podcast page.

We've been rearraging the locations of files on the website today. Sorry for any inconvenience. E-mail the webmaster if you'd like to report a broken link.

Here's the update I promised yesterday! You can now reach this website by typing somdpokemon.com in your browser!

As you can see at the very bottom of the page, this website has been tested with at least five different browsers (including K-Meleon) with at least five different layout engines. It is best viewed in Internet Explorer 7, so if you're still using 6, click on the "Explorer" link at the bottom of the page and download the latest version!

A big update to this website is coming soon. Wonder what it could be? I hope to have it up later today or at least by tomorrow.
If you play Banette [SW] or Electrode [SW], make sure you read this errata from Pokémon Organized Play.
Banette is receiving errata for its first attack, Ghost Head. Ghost Head can’t cause Banette to Knock Out itself…the attack has to leave Banette with at least 10 HP.
Banette— Secret Wonders, #23
Ghost Head attack
Put as many damage counters as you like on Banette. (You can’t Knock Out Banette.) Put that many damage counters on the Defending Pokémon.
Electrode is receiving errata for the card to reflect that its Poké-Power can trigger when any attack Knocks Out Electrode, not just during its owner’s turn.
Electrode— Secret Wonders, #26
Energy Shift Poké-Power
If Electrode would be Knocked Out by damage from an attack, you may use this power. Electrode isn’t discarded. Instead, attach it as an Energy card to 1 of your Pokémon. While attached, this card is a Special Energy card and provides every type of Energy but provides only 1 Energy at a time. (Has no effect other than providing Energy.)
The errata for both cards goes into effect immediately.

I have posted the card scans in a much different format than before. See for yourself. There are still some bugs to be worked out. More scans are coming! If you want to use “proxy” cards, play with these!
- I would like to remind everyone to be on the lookout for episode 2 of the SoMD Pokémon TCG Podcast. I have added the show to the Podcast Alley rating system, where it is, as I am writing this, the 37th most popular podcast in the world for the month of January. And that doesn’t even take into account the fact that the podcast didn’t exist until January 22nd. So, all the other podcasts had a 22-day head start on us. Thanks to those who have voted.
You may also like the fact that our podcast is the most popular “Games & Hobbies” podcast in the world.
However, that can change. If you haven’t already voted for the SoMD Pokémon TCG Podcast (to bring us up in the rating system), please do so. Thank you. I hope you all had as much fun listening to the podcast as I did.
The podcast went perfectly and everything fell together just great. I was afraid there would be a lot of dead air and I'd be saying things like "um", but what I did not take into account was that there were three other people there who all had something to contribute the whole time. We were able to fill up 46 minutes! We are definitely on for episode 2! This is unrehearsed. Brace yourself for some entertaining PTCG talk!
When I start to archive these podcasts, I intend include a synopsis of each episode, but for now, you’ll just have to listen to it to hear what it's about- I want you to be surprised!

If you have iTunes, subscribe to the podcast: http://www.southernmarylandpokemon.com/assets/podcast/podcast.xml
You can vote for the podcast on Podcast Alley, one of the most authoritative podcast rating systems in the world. The more votes it gets, the higher on the list it will be:

I finalized the Southern Maryland Pokémon TCG Podcast today. It went great. I had a great team of people to host with me, and we were able to fill up quite a bit of time! Thanks for your help! This turned out to be better than I could have imagined. Expect me to publish it on this website by tomorrow. Don't worry, you won't need any special software to download it, it will be a file in .mp3 format.
It appears that I was in such a hurry to get the card scans up, that one of the sets of scans I posted on 1-17 is not Unseen Forces. We will be producing the Southern Maryland Pokémon TCG Podcast today. Wish us luck!

Happy Birthday!
To celebrate the 9th birthday of Pokémon TCG in North America, I have added a new feature to this site.
Card scans. Thanks go out to Aardvark Videos, Comics and Games for collecting these scans. Expect more to come! We currently have DP, SW, most of MT, and a few scans from UF. I’ll be working on getting more scans up and finding a way to present it on the site.
These scans, I’ve discovered, are about 3 times smaller, and in some cases even 10 times smaller than scans found on other sites (i.e. you’ll spend 67% less time downloading each card).
We are asking for help from you with content on this site. We're looking for people who have photographs from the following events:
- Glen Burnie City Championship January 2006
- Lusby Battle Road September 2007
- Lusby Crystal Guardians Prerelease
- Lusby City Championship December 2006
- Lusby Dragon Frontiers Prerelease
- Lusby Diamond & Pearl Prerelease
- Lusby Power Keepers Prerelease
- Lusby Holon Phantoms Prerelease
- St. Mary's City Championship January 2007
If you have any such photos, please contact the webmaster.

If you look at the Resources page, you'll see we put up a probability chart for getting basics in your opening hand. Don't get it? Take a look!
Welcome! You have come across the SoMD Pokémon TCG Website. No more searching around all over the internet through various forums and fansites to find what you’re looking for: This is the best way to stay informed of what’s going on!
My name is Nicholas Kirkpatrick, I am a computer artist and webmaster of this site. I am also a Pokémon TCG League Leader in Lusby, as well as a Professor and Tournament Organizer, ensuring you that the person in charge of this website has exhaustive knowledge of the subject. I have been working with Mike Mattingly, a prominent Pokémon TCG player (and owner of one of the most popular league stores in SoMD), to bring you a wide-ranging website for your favorite game; a helpful resource for anyone in the Pokémon TCG community who wants to be in know.
I will be working on a to-do list as far as features for this site. If you have any ideas or feedback, my e-mail is on the left column of this page.

The first thing I would like to do is bring everyone’s attention to the Maryland State Championship. State/Province/Territory Championships are Pokémon Organized Play Premier Events held once a year and each State gets only one. This year it’s in Glen Burnie! Check it out!

Here are some things you can do for SoMD Pokemon:
· Spread the news by word of mouth. If the opportunity comes up in conversation, bring up the SoMD Pokémon TCG website.
·Are you a member of any forums? Add the URL to the site to your forum signature. Not only is it free, nearly effortless advertising, it has been shown that this can "trick" some search engines into ranking a site higher in search results.
· Contribute to the SoMD Pokemon wiki
· If you're on Facebook, join the SoMD Facebook group.
· Digg the website (register for a digg account- it's easy). The higher it gets ranked when you digg it, the more people will see the site. http://digg.com/nintendo/New_Website_for_Pokemon_TCG_in_the_Southern_Maryland_Area
